The iDesign driven LASIK procedure gives you freedom from contact lenses and glasses. No matter where your day takes you, you’ll be able to see clearly — anytime, anywhere.
The iDesign LASIK procedure provides individualized corrections with greater flexibility and precision than ever before during laser vision correction.
The first step in our treatment process is to use the iDesign to create a 3D map of the imperfections of your eye using wavefront eye mapping technology. This system is 25 times more precise than conventional measurements — it even measures and corrects errors not detected by conventional technology. Working like a “brain,” the iDesign Advanced Wavescan Studio captures over 1,200 data points to create a detailed picture of your eye’s unique imperfections and accurately plans a personalized treatment for your eye alone — all in only 3 seconds. Using this custom procedure plan, the laser corrects your vision to your exact needs in only a few minutes.
LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis)
LASIK is an excimer laser surgical procedure that treats the middle layers of the cornea to correct near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and/or astigmatism. LASIK is FDA-approved and is an advanced procedure for correcting focusing problems of the eye.
LASIK is performed using numbing drops to prevent pain during the procedure. A vacuum ring secures the eye while a thin layer of the cornea is formed into a flap. This flap is folded over, and the laser surgery is performed on the bed of the cornea that is exposed. The ultra-precise laser treatment gently reshapes the cornea to the desired curvature based on the digital information from your personalized iDesign eye map. Once the procedure is over, you’ll immediately notice the difference. After a day’s rest, you’ll begin to see more clearly, and you can return to your normal routine.
Advantages of LASIK include:
- Little or no discomfort following the surgery
- Recovery of vision often within 1-2 days
- Little or no risk of developing haze following treatment
- Ease of doing an additional laser treatment should this be necessary
Bring someone with you on surgery day:
No matter how warm our staff and nurses are, there’s nothing like having someone with you for support. We recommend that you bring a friend or family member with you on your day of surgery. They can stay with you right up until you have the procedure and can even watch the procedure if they wish. Then they can meet you afterwards and drive you back home.
